Selection Policies

Teams are selected on the basis that they can help World Class Lifting deliver against its key aims for 2012 and beyond.  Teams for European and World Championships will be selected using a published selection policy which is based on delivering these aims. The teams that represent Great Britain at the major weightlifting championships at youth, junior and senior level which includes European and World Championships and Olympic Games are selected by a selection panel comprising of both World Class Lifting and British Weight Lifter's Assosciation representatives. 

For other international events WCL may select  a team of athletes, please note that this will NOT be a Great Britain representative team as there will be no set selection standards and is not open to athletes who are not on the WCL programme.  Participation in these events  will be dependent on a number of factors including  the stage of development of athlete, their current progress  and their international experience.  Further details on the selection policy and requirements if selected will be posted shortly.

The teams the represent the Home Countries at Commonwealth Games and other specific International events are selected by the individual Home Countries NGBs.
