Podium
The Podium squad is for those athletes with realistic medal chances at the next Olympic Games (i.e. a maximum of four years away from the podium). Support is provided through the performance programme delivered by World Class Lifting and an athlete personal award. Athletes need to have finished in the top 12 at Olympic / World Championships within 15% of the total winner lifted by the winner to be eligible for the Podium Squad.
WCL squads for 2010-11 are currently being confirmed and will be announced shortly.
Development
The Development Squad is for those athletes with realistic chances of progressing through to the Podium Squad. Support is provided through the performance programme delivered by World Class Lifting and an athlete personal award. Athletes need to show progression in order to remain in the squad.

Talent Squad
The existing talent squad supports young athletes who have experience of weightlifting through their schools and/or clubs who have the physical and psychological attributes which give them the potential to develop into elite weightlifters. Athletes in this squad must demonstrate both commitment and progression and are normally expected to reach the Development Squad Standard within 2 years.

Talent Confirmation Squad
The talent squad is for new lifters who have normally started lifting within the last 12 months and are felt to have the physical and psychological attributes to progress to eventually medal for Great Britain at a Paralympic Games. These athletes are expected to progress quickly into the Talent Squad
