Powerlifters prepare for IPF 21st World Bench Press Championships  and 2nd World Junior Bench Press Championships.

Following a successful training camp in Indiana, based out of Jason Irving’s home gym, the WCL powerlifters have moved up to Killeen, Texas, to join the Great Britain Powerlifting Federation   team for the World Bench Press Championships which start on Monday 24th May.  Athletes from the WCL squad who were training in Indiana were Adam Alderman, Jason Irving and Roxanne Lucock.  They will be joined by Natalie Blake in Texas.  This event is a great opportunity for these athletes to compete on a world stage, in front of large crowds, for Great Britain, before they travel out to the IPC Powerlifting World Championships in Kuala Lumpur.  Three of the athletes currently hold the Unequipped Bench Press British Records, Adam Alderman (56kg BW, 132.5kg), Natalie Blake (52kg BW, 97.5kg) and Roxanne Lucock (U18, 48kg BW, 70kg), and all will be looking to further improve these this week.  Following this event the squad will fly back to the UK in time for the IPC British Powerlifting Championships in Stoke Mandeville on the 5th June.
