Peter Kirkbride weighed in @  89.2 kg. He has shown 6 good attempts: snatch 135kg, 140kg and 143kg (8th place), Clean and Jerk 175kg, 180kg, and 183kg (6th), Total 326kg (6th). This was a very confident performance, he demonstrated good fight on the stage and was the first time he has had 6 good lifts at a major international competition. Kirkbride is now training full time and we hope with this opportunity we will see even more from him next year.Â

Jewell weighed in @  57.7 kg. and in the snatch she opened with 75kg followed by a safe 78kg . There were good expectations for the third attempt of 80kg which would have increased her new PB. Unfortunately it was not to be this  time and she finished in  6th place in snatch. The clean & jerk brought a sad surprise when 95kg  was too high to start on that day and Helen failed to get a good lift in. This was very disappointing for Jewell considering the lifts she has been doing in training. I am sure that she is very close to setting some good new PBs. |
