British Records Fall

Atlas Gym, Alfreton was the venue for the British Junior Championships last weekend.  There was some excellent competition with Chris Freebury setting new British Records in the snatch by 5kgs to 98kg and the total by 3kgs to 213kg.  Two lifters on the World Class Programme who have made significant improvements since the English Championships in February are Ben Watson and Joshua Farghally, Watson taking the 94kg title with a total of 273kg with Fraghally in 2nd.

In the women's event there was a great competition in the 48kg class between Hannah Powell and Nikki Hamilton, with Hamilton taking the title by 1kg with a total of 113kg, and both athletes setting PBs and taking British Records in the process.  Zoe Smith was the best lifter on the day on Sinclair points with a new PB total of 164kg.
