Vaughn-Ellis appointed as Lead Performance Coach

WCL are pleased to announce the appointement of Nicola Vaugh-Ellis to the post of Lead Performance Coach for the World Class Powerlifting Programme. Vaughn-Ellis brings a wealth of experience to the post having been part of the powerlifting coaching team for the last three Paralympic Games. She worked with Emma Brown and Anthony Peddle who both took Gold at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and was part of the team who supported Brown to her second Gold in 2004 in Athens. Vaughn-Ellis was coach to Jason Irving who in his debut Paralymics in 2004 finished a very creditable 4th, and was unfortunate not to medal in Beijing in 2008.
Commenting, WCL Performance Manager, Fiona Lothian said that "I am very excited about this appointment, Nicola brings with her a very good technical knowledge and this linked with her passion for the sport means that I have no doubt on her abilty to work with the athletes to deliver World Class Performances in London 2012"
Vaughn-Ellis has said that she is really looking forward to being able to work full time on the programme having been frustrated in the past juggling other employment with coaching. She will looking to maximise the opportunities that a home Paralympic Games brings to the athletes. Vaughn-Ellis takes up her post from the 1st of May 2009. |
