Jawad faces tough test tomorrow

aj_portrait.jpgAs his last warm up event before the Paralympics in September, Ali Jawad will have strong opposition in the 75kg class at the World Junior Championships in Newark, USA..  With the event being well supported by lifters from Iran, Kuwait and America, it will be the ideal preparation before he travels to Beijing.  Also in action tomorrow for Great Britain are Zoe Newson, Olivia Hyman, Nathaniel Wilding and Daniel Stewart.

British Weightlifting Championships, 13th July 2008

The British Weightlifting Championships returned to Lilleshall last weekend, the British Titles were spread across athletes from the Home Countries  with  a number of athletes recording PBs.   First up on the platform were the lighter mens categorys with Steven McMichael, taking the 56kg title with a total of 180kg and Chris Freebury the 62kg title with a PB of 202.

mb_snatch_gl_170708.jpgGreat news for British weightlifting, after a nail biting 6 weeks the IWF have awarded an Olympic Slot  to Michaela Breeze, Britain’s top ranked weightlifter.  Michaela who is the current Commonwealth Games Champion narrowly missed out on automatic selection.

23/24 MAY 2008 – LOCHEN, AUSTRIA

 

This year’s Fulda Cup squad, supported by the World Class Programme, consisted of Hannah Powell (15), Zoe Smith (14)Sonny Webster (14), Jack Oliver (17) and Peter Barnett (17) with Andrew Callard as Team Coach and Niki Zeveros as Team Manager.  Overall it was a very succesful competition with all the athletes making the podium

Four athletes qualify for the 2008 Beijing Paralympics PDF Print E-mail

Four British powerlfters have qualified for the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.  Congratulations to Natalie Blake,  Anthony Peddle,  Jason Irving  and Ali Jawad.  The  Paralympics start on the 6th September.
